FAQs

We hope you find these FAQs helpful.

Why do components become obsolete?

Components become obsolete when the part is no longer manufactured. This can happen because there is no longer sufficient demand, or because the manufacturer has introduced an enhanced replacement part.

What does EOL mean for components?

EOL means End Of Life, which means the manufacturer has decided to cease production of the component. The EOL date is usually announced some time in advance.

What are the implications of component obsolescence?

At best, the components become harder to source, and potentially more expensive. At worst, a complete product redesign is required to use newer components.

What types of components do you supply?

Our stock includes a wide range of electronic components—from semiconductors and integrated circuits to relays, sensors, capacitors, connectors, and more.

How accurate is your stock information?

Our stock levels are updated in real time, ensuring the information you see is current and accurate.

Do you offer testing for components?

Yes, we offer component testing to verify authenticity and performance, helping to protect against counterfeits and defective items.

Are you ISO certified?

Yes, we have been ISO 9001 registered for more than 30 years, for procurement and supply of electronic and electrical components. You can see our current certificate here.

Can you help with excess inventory?

Absolutely. We can help you turn excess components into cash by marketing them through our global supply network.

Can you give a valuation of my excess stock?

Of course.  Just let us know the manufacturer, part number, and the quantity of each item. It’s helpful if you can add their date codes, and if they are in unopened manufacturer packaging.

Do you source parts from Asia?

Yes, we regularly source from Asia and have established secure, traceable channels. As ERAI members, we use effective risk mitigation procedures to ensure product authenticity and quality.

Where are you based?

We are located in Old Harlow, Essex.  We are just north of London, just south of Cambridge and close to the M25 and Stansted Airport.

I see you offer RoHS conversion – is this important?

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances.  Conversion means modifying old components to meet the standards set by the current legislation, so they can be sold in the EU and EU, for example by replacing lead-based solder.

What is tape and reeling?

Components are placed securely held in pockets in a tape, which is then wound onto a reel.  This means they are ready for use in automated assembly.

Can I check your stock levels for a specific component?

Yes, it’s quick, easy and available 24/7.  Just search for the component, using its part number, on our home page.  In the unlikely event that you can’t find the part you want, simply contact us. We can probably help you.

Because of the sector we work in we need to pre-qualify all potential suppliers. Can you help us with that?

We can. We are fully accredited by JOSCAR, which provides a single database for pre-qualification and compliance details of potential suppliers.
